Kilian perfumes sold for a record $5.7 million in Colombia last year.
That’s a staggering amount of money, considering the brand has sold only 1.4 million bottles worldwide.
And the $5 million is just the first half of the bottle price: The price is expected to go up in the next three months.
The Colombian government is expected on Wednesday to announce a tax increase on Kilian’s products, which it says will increase revenues by $4 billion a year.
The government is also considering increasing taxes on other products.
